The Russell County Clerk’s Office announced at this week’s Russell County Fiscal Court meeting that the office is turning more than $230 thousand over to the fiscal court in excess fees.
Clerk Sue Brockman told the court that the 2021 Final Fee Settlement report resulted in a total of $233,455 in excess fees being turned back over to the fiscal court.
According to state law, county clerks in counties with less than 75,000 population must provide to the fiscal court any income that exceeds expenses from the office.
