Applications being accepted for Rural Electric Youth Tour

Applications for the Rural Electric Youth Tour in Washington, D. C., are being accepted by South Kentucky RECC through February 25th, according to the cooperative.

Twelve semifinalists from Russell County High School and other high schools in the South Kentucky RECC service area as well as representatives from private schools and the home school program will be selected for a one-day trip to Frankfort for the Frankfort Rural Electric Youth Tour. From that group, three students will be chosen to go to Washington, D.C., for the Rural Electric Youth Tour.

Competition for the all-expense-paid trip is open to high school juniors, between the ages of 16 and 18, whose parents or guardians receive electric service at their primary residence from South Kentucky RECC.

Students must complete a typed essay of 350-500 words on the subject “What leadership means to you and what makes a good leader?” All essays and applications must be filled out and submitted on-line .

Winners will be taken to Washington, D.C., June 17-23, 2022, where they will tour national landmarks and learn more about how the United States government works.
