Officers from the Columbia Police Department were dispatched to a theft at a residence on Fairground Street early last week. The caller reported a subject was caught on their security cameras stealing a package.
Officers identified the individual and were able to recover the stolen property.
However, the male individual did not turn himself in, so officers signed a warrant of arrest through the County Attorney’s Office.
On Thursday of this past week, the individual was located and taken into custody in Taylor County by the Campbellsville Police Department.
David Weiand, 24, of Taylor County has been charged with criminal trespassing as well as theft of mail matter; a class D felony.
