Senate passes map that moves Russell County to 15th District

The Kentucky Senate’s redistricting plan that moves Russell County from the 16th Senate District to the 15th Senate District was passed in the Senate with a vote of 28-4.

The redistricting will move Russell County from the 16th Senate District represented by State Sen. Max Wise to the 15th District represented by State Sen. Rick Girdler.

The 15th District will now include Russell, Cumberland, Clinton, Wayne, and Pulaski counties. Both Wise and Girdler voted in favor of the bill.

The redistricting bill now heads to the Governor. Governor Beshear can veto the bill, but the legislative chambers have the ability to override a potential veto.
