The Russell County Lakers and Lady Lakers were defeated Tuesday night.
The Lakers hosted Allen County-Scottsville in a game that went down to the wire, where the Lakers fell short by a score of 62-53.
The game was tied going into the fourth quarter, and was a one-possession game with a minute to go, but some late Patriot free throws were able to seal the win for the Patriots, as the Lakers fall to 1-11 on the season and the Patriots move to 4-12.
Mayes Gosser led the scoring with 20 points, followed by Owen Loy with 18, and Trace Stringer with 13. Jack Shearer also entered the scoring column with two points.
The Lady Lakers traveled to Columbia for a rematch with the Adair County Lady Indians, but fell by a score of 61-47.
The loss drops the Lady Lakers to 6-9 on the season.
The Lakers and Lady Lakers will be on the road for a doubleheader this Friday as they travel to Barren County. The girls will play the first game with tip off scheduled for 6 p.m.
