Local Teacher Receives Serious Injuries In Wreck

One person received serious injuries following a two vehicle accident Saturday morning in Russell Springs.

The accident occurred shortly after 9 o’clock Saturday at the end of Main Street on Highway 379 in Russell Springs.

Officer Kyle Wilson of the Russell Springs Police Department  says a 2006 Mitsubishi truck driven by Jack Staton, age 55, was traveling southbound on highway 379 and collided with a Plymouth SUV being driven by 26 year old Megan Tarter of Russell Springs.    Tarter sustained serious injuries in the collision and was transported by Russell County EMS to the Russell County hospital, then later flown to a Lexington hospital.       Staten, a seven year old juvenile in his truck, and Tarter’s two year old son all escaped injury.     Officer Wilson was assisted on the scene by the Russell County EMS and the Russell Springs Fire Department.
