Several Escape Injury After Car Catches Fire

A car hit a deer on the Cumberland Parkway Sunday night, catching fire and blocking traffic for hours.

Nobody was injured in the collision and subsequent fire.

According to Russell Springs Police, the collision occurred around 7 p.m. Sunday when a 2020 Subaru Forester operated by 26-year-old Megan Bruner of Somerset collided with a deer near the Exit 62 Russell Springs ramp.

The vehicle burst into flames, but the four individuals in the car were able to escape with no injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene.

Fire crews were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire, as the car remained blocking the roadway.

Russell Springs Police Officer Debra Necessary is the investigating officer.
