Volleyball falls short against Clinton County; defeated Metcalfe on Wednesday

The Lady Laker Volleyball team put forth a valiant effort, but fell short against the Clinton County Lady Bulldogs on Thursday 3 sets to 1.

The Lady Lakers fell in the first set 28-26 and 26-24 in the second set, but fought back and won the third set 25-22 to force a fourth set, where they ultimately fell 25-22.

With the loss, the Lady Lakers finish district play at 4-2 and second place in the 16th district behind Clinton County, which finishes district play with an 8-0 record.

The Lady Lakers finish out the regular season with three straight road games. Their next game is on the road at Wayne County on Oct. 8. followed by road trips to Warren East on Oct. 11 and Marion County on Oct. 14.

Lady Lakers defeat Metcalfe on Wednesday

The Lady Lakers defeated Metcalfe County on Wednesday in four sets by a score of 3-1.

In that match, the Lady Lakers lost the first set 25-19, but won the next three to pick up the victory.

Kenzie Kelsey led the team with 8 kills in that match, with Rachel Webb, Lauren White, and Briley Murray each finishing with six kills and Sophie Shearer adding four.

Kelsey and Shearer each finished with two blocks, Avery Hart finished with 16 assists, and Jenna White led the team with 9 digs, followed by Olivia Pierce with six.
