Russell County Board of Education votes to keep tax rates the same

The Russell County Board of Education voted unanimously Thursday evening to keep the school tax rates the same in 2021-2022.

The rates remain at 52.2 cents per $100 of assessed value for personal property. 52.2 for real estate, 52.2 for motor vehicle and watercraft, along with a 3 percent utility tax.

The school tax rate has not went up since 2018, according to Superintendent Michael Ford.

Even with no increase, due to new properties and an increase in assessed property values, The school district will bring in an additional $315,195.
