Former RCHS assistant football coach and substitute teacher pleads guilty to sexual misconduct charges

A former assistant football coach at Russell County High School has entered a guilty plea to felony charges.

Hunter Lovell of Russell Springs was charged last year with four counts of rape in the third degree, all Class D felonies.

Lovell was charged with the offenses last year by a Russell County Grand Jury.

In a plea agreement reached Tuesday in Russell Circuit Court with a special prosecutor from the Attorney General’s office, Lovell pled guilty to two counts of unlawful transactions with a minor second degree, both Class D felonies, and two counts of sexual misconduct, Class A misdemeanors.

Lovell agreed to a five year sentence on the felonies, with the sentences to be probated for a period of five years.

He also agreed to forfeit his teaching certificate in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Lovell is expected to be formally sentenced before Judge Vernon Miniard, Jr. next month.
