A Russell Springs woman was arrested on multiple charges by Russell Springs Police over the weekend.
Russell Springs Police said Tosha Renee Adams was arrested on multiple drug charges and traffic violations Saturday night just after 9 p.m.
Adams is charged with possession of a controlled substance first degree (hydrocodone), possession of marijuana, trafficking in a controlled substance first offense, operating a vehicle with an expired operators license, no registration receipt, improper display of registration plates, tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officer Debra Necessary said she was assisting a traffic stop near a gas station in Russell Springs Saturday night when a white Dodge pickup truck drove by the traffic stop at a high rate of speed. Necessary said she left the traffic stop to pull over the truck, driven by Adams.
Necessary said she pulled the truck over at Five Star near the parkway interchange and made contact with Adams, noticing a strong scent of marijuana in the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and police found Oxycodone and Hydrocodone in the vehicle, along with several empty bags and other paraphernalia, and cash.
RSPD said Adams attempted to chew up several pills during the search to remove evidence, so EMS was called to the scene and Adams was taken to Russell County Hospital for evaluation before being transported to the Russell County Detention Center.
Officer Necessary was assisted on scene by Officer Kyle Wilson of Russell Springs Police and Deputy Dustin Bunch from the Russell County Sheriff’s Office.
