A Wayne County Deputy Jailer has been arrested for bringing contraband to inmates.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jonathan Thacker, 35, of Whitley City, was arrested at the Monticello Police Department on a warrant obtained by MPD Chief Joey Hoover charging Thacker with 15 counts each of Official Misconduct and Promoting Contraband.
Thacker is accused of bringing contraband to inmates in the Wayne County Detention Center on multiple occasions between February and June of this year while employed as a Deputy Jailer.
The investigation was initiated by Wayne County Jailer Ronnie Ellis who requested assistance from the Monticello Police Department after he and some members of his staff discovered and seized some tobacco products and a small amount of controlled substances in mid-June. Two inmates have also been charged with Promoting Contraband.
The investigation is ongoing. Additional arrests and charges are forthcoming.
