State will open COVID vaccines to 12-15 year olds on Thursday

Children ages 12-15 will be able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at state vaccination sites beginning today.

The FDA approved the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children between the ages of 12-15 on Wednesday.

Consent from a parent is required for children between the ages of 12-17 to receive the vaccine.

According to a report from the Kaiser Family Foundation, approximately 231,000 Kentuckians are in the 12-15 age group, which makes up roughly 5% of the state’s total population.
