Laker Baseball Season Opener Today Is Postponed

The Russell County High School Lakers Baseball team was scheduled to open its season today with a home matchup against Somerset, however, the game has now been moved to Wednesday afternoon and is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.

WJRS Sports will broadcast the game Wednesday afternoon matchup with Somerset on Laker Country 1049.   Jeff Hoover and Charlie Anderson will have coverage of the game beginning around 5:15.

The Lakers will now open their season on the road Tuesday, when they travel to Campbellsville High School for a matchup with the Eagles. The Lakers will also be on the road Friday as they take on Allen County-Scottsville in 4th Region action.

This week will be the  first game played for the Laker baseball program since May 28, 2019, when the Lakers played in the semifinals of the 4th Region Tournament.

The Lakers are led by a six-person senior class, including Nick Aaron, Noah Hadley, Austin Harris, Issac Roy, CJ VonFumetti, and Jackson Wilson.
