Russell Springs Mayor Eddie Thomas could have a recommendation to the city council for the position of Russell Springs Police Chief next month.
The committee tasked with going through applicants has been delayed in meeting due to COVID-19 protocols but the committee recently held its first meeting.
Melissa Taylor has served as the interim police chief since the retirement of former police chief Joe Michael Irvin.
Sources close to the situation have told WJRS News that one of the applicants for the position came from someone currently within the department, but did not disclose who that applicant was.
