Russell Springs Home Damaged by Fire Tuesday Afternoon

Russell Springs Fire Chief HM Bottom told WJRS News that firemen were called out at around 12:30 yesterday afternoon to a home belonging to Glen and Sondra Whitis on Neva Drive in Russell Springs.

When fire crews arrived on scene there was heavy smoke coming from the basement of the home. The fire was able to be quickly extinguished with minimal structure damage but heavy smoke damage.

Firemen were on scene for an hour and a half. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Russell Springs Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Russell Springs Police Department, Russell County Sheriff’s Office and members of the South Russell Fire Department.
