The Russell County Lady Lakers and Laker boys went on the road Friday night for a girl-boy doubleheader in Liberty against Casey County. In the girls game, the Lady Lakers had probably their worst outing of the season, scoring only four points in the first quarter and only eight at halftime to fall behind the Lady Rebels. Even so, the Lady Lakers had a couple of chances to win the game late, but just couldn’t pull it out, losing 37 to 33. The Lady Lakers (4-4) will travel to Danville tomorrow to take on the Lady Admirals.
Congratulations to Lady Laker Senior Juliah Bault who joined the 1,000 point club at RCHS. Bault scored five points in the Lady Laker loss Friday night, thus surpassing the milestone. Juliah has been a three year starter for the Lady Lakers and currently averages about 13 points per game.
The Laker boys had an even tougher time Friday night at Casey County. Leading by 16 points at halftime, the Lakers blew the lead in the second half, losing to Casey County 55-53 on a shot with just two seconds remaining.
On Saturday, the Lakers traveled to Bowling Green to play Greenwood. The Lakers trailed 43 to 16 at halftime enroute to a 70 -45 blowout loss. The Lakers are now 2-6 on the season and will be at Laker gym Tuesday night to play host to Somerset Christiian (1-6). Game time is 6:30CT.
