Laker Basketball Seasons Open Tuesday, January 5th

Final schedules have been released for the Laker and Lady Laker basketball teams for the upcoming season. Both teams will open their revised seasons on Tuesday, January 5th with a girl-boy doubleheader at Laker gym at Russell County High School.

Laker Country 1049 WJRS is your official home for Laker sports and again this year will broadcast most all of the Laker and Lady Laker games. Jeff Hoover will again be the voice of Laker basketball with 38 total games set to be broadcast during the regular season, plus district and regional tournament games.

Laker Country 1049 WJRS Sports will have reports over the next couple of weeks on both teams and will talk with Laker Head Coach Billy Carson and Lady Laker Head Coach Brett Blankenship. Once the season starts, also join us for the daily “Laker Sports Report” at 6:45 a.m. each weekday morning.

Megan shares updates on a busy summer that included 4-H Camp, county fair activities, and canning classes, while highlighting upcoming opportunities for the community.The conversation covers Extension Homemakers clubs, volunteer efforts, the local book club, food preservation classes, pressure canner testing, and upcoming cooking demonstrations featuring healthy recipes and easy family meals. Jeff Hoover welcomes members of the Adair County 16U All-Star Girls Softball Team and assistant coach Grace Loy. The team recently captured the Kentucky Senior League Softball State Championship and was competing in the Super Regional Tournament in Lawrenceburg.Coach Loy and players from both Russell County and Adair County discuss their championship run, the chemistry between the combined team, their journey through the tournament, and their hopes of advancing to the national championship. Hear from the young athletes about their love for the game, teamwork, and representing their communities on the softball field.
