The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife announced that this weekend, Saturday Dec. 26 and Sunday Dec. 27, will be free youth hunting weekend.
This two-day season permits hunters younger than 16 to hunt deer with modern firearms or any other weapon legal for deer hunting. Each young hunter must be accompanied by an adult who cannot take part in firearm deer hunting.
The youth hunters are not required to have either a youth hunting license or a deer permit of any sort.
During the weekend, youth deer hunters must wear a hunter orange hat and vest or coat, stay with an adult at all times, complete a harvest log and telecheck all deer the same day.
