Man indicted for attempted murder of officer in Russell County

A Russell County grand jury handed down indictments yesterday, and a Louisville man was indicted in Russell County for criminal attempt to commit murder, a Class B felony.

The indictment alleges that on June 18, Michael Banks, 45, of Louisville, attempted to run over a law enforcement officer with his vehicle. In the indictment, Banks is also alleged to have committed the crime of fleeing or evading police in the first degree, a Class D felony, and is also charged with being a persistent felony offender.

Russell Springs couple indicted on child abuse charges

A Russell Springs couple was indicted yesterday on multiple charges stemming from alleged child abuse that occurred in April and November 2019.

Curtis and Trina Hendricks, both of Russell Springs, were indicted yesterday on the charges.

Curtis Hendricks faces two charges of second-degree assault involving a minor child occurring on different dates and two counts of criminal abuse first degree occurring on different dates.

Trina Hendricks faces one count of criminal abuse first degree involving a minor child.

All charges are Class C felonies.

Other indictments

Other individuals indicted by the grand jury on Monday are as follows:

  • Terri Garner, 38, of Russell Springs, charged with theft by unlawful taking more than $500, DUI (fourth or more offense), driving on a DUI suspended license, operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, and being a persistent felony offender.
  • Michael Carr, 38, of Russell Springs, charged with second-degree assault and being a persistent felony offender.
  • Cailey M. Schryver, 19, of Greenville, Kentucky, charged with theft by deception more than $500 and criminal attempt of theft by deception.
  • Sandra Dix, 50, of Russell Springs, charged with first-degree perjury and being a persistent felony offender.
  • LeAngela Graham, 24, of Liberty, charged with bail jumping first degree and being a persistent felony offender.
  • Carrie Johnson, 41, of Edmonton, charged with bail jumping first degree and being a persistent felony offender.
  • Andrea Fobbe, 38, of Russell Springs, charged with bail jumping first degree and being a persistent felony offender.
  • Joshua York, 33, charged with assault fourth degree (third or more offense), resisting arrest, disorderly conduct second degree, menacing, violating an EPO/DVO, terroristic threatening, and being a persistent felony offender.
