Laker Football Claims District Championship, Defeats Allen County 20-18

Lakers Now 5-0 on the Season

The Russell County Lakers won maybe their biggest game in years on Friday night as they defeated Allen County-Scottsville at Ron Finley Field to claim a district championship and remain undefeated on the season.    In a game heard on Laker Country 1049 WJRS, Allen County-Scottsville scored a touchdown late in the game to pull within two points, 20 to 18.   The Patriots went for the two point conversion but the Laker defense stopped, sealing the Laker victory.

Russell County claims its first district championship since 2013.  The Laker team will have home field advantage for the first two rounds of the district.

The Lakers were scheduled to play LaRue County this Friday night, the 30th.   However, that game has been cancelled.   The Lakers are expected to still play and it is expected their opponent for this Friday night will be announced sometime Monday.
