Russell County receives nearly $230 thousand in CARES funds

Russell County will receive nearly $230 thousand in funding from the federal CARES Act, according to an announcement from Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear’s office and the Kentucky Department for Local Government.

Russell County will use $229,838 for PPE, sanitizing supplies, sheriff’s department payroll and telework equipment, according to the release issued Tuesday afternoon.

Gov. Andy Beshear announced 20 Central Kentucky governments were approved for $7,009,885 in reimbursements from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act for local governments with expenses related to COVID-19.
