George Ison, Jr., age 98, died Wednesday, September 2, 2020
at his home.
He was born April 14, 1922 in Jenkins, KY to the
late Steve & Nanny Ison. He was a WWII Veteran -recepient of a Purple Heart having
served in the US Army from Sept 1941 to 1945.
George Ison is survived by his wife of 67 years-Laverne Grider Ison.
2 daughters: Sheila (Dean) McKinley, Russell Springs
Kathy (Daryl) Hammond, Russell Springs
1 grandson: George Barton (Alison) Hammond, Lexington
George was retired as a powerhouse operator-US Corp
of Engineers-Wolf Creek Dam.
He was a Mason-60 years at Jamestown Lodge and a member
of the Russell Springs United Methodist Church.
Funeral service for George Ison, Jr. will be 11:30 AM. Friday,
September 4, 2020 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel
with Bro. David Coffey and Bro. Charles Edwards officiating.
Visitation from 9 AM.Friday to 11:30 AM. Friday
Interment in the Mill Springs National Cemetery at Nancy
