Area residents who are customers of South Kentucky RECC are being warned of a scam which is apparently taking place.
RECC officials say they have been contacted by several customers of the electric co-op informing them of phone calls being received requesting payment by phone. Reportedly, the callers are informing RECC customers that if payment is not made by phone, their electricity will be disconnected.
RECC officials say this is a scam. Company officials say they are not calling customers regarding payment. Persons are warned to not give financial or personal information over the phone. Persons receiving these calls should contact the South Kentucky RECC office in Somerset.
