KSP Enforcing Move Over Campaign

The Kentucky State Police, along with other border states, began a #MoveOver enforcement effort yesterday. The campaign extends through July 25th and focuses on drivers who fail to move over when emergency personnel (police, fire, EMS) are working on the side of the road.

All 50 States have enacted “Move Over” laws.  Kentucky passed a law in 2003 requiring motorists to move to the adjacent lane when approaching an emergency or public safety vehicle. If it’s impossible or unsafe to change lanes, motorists must slow down and use caution.

State Police said their MoveOver campaign is one to make motorists more aware of the law and the motorists’ obligation to move over when approaching emergency vehicles.
