Former RCHS Football Assistant Coach and Substitute Teacher Indicted on Rape Charges

A Russell County Grand Jury indicted 25-year-old Hunter Lovell yesterday on four counts of Rape, third degree.   The indictment alleges that in September, October, and November of last year while Lovell was a person in authority or special trust as a substitute teacher and coach, he had sexual intercourse with a female high school student.

Lovell was assistant football and basketball coach during the 2019-2020 seasons and was employed as a substitute teacher.   He resigned those positions in January of this year.

The charge of Rape, third degree, is a Class D felony, which if convicted, is punishable by 1 to 5 years imprisonment.

The case is being prosecuted by the Attorney General’s office in Frankfort.
