Will there be a Russell County Fair this year? If so, when will it be?
Those questions are being asked around the community as the status of the annual event, which has been held the first week in June for the last several years, remains unclear. However, with the state wide social distancing restrictions and prohibition of mass gatherings as a result of the coronavirus, it is not known what effect those restrictions will have on this year’s fair.
According to the fair’s website, the fair is scheduled for May 30th to June 6th. Upon inquiry recently, WJRS Local News was told that the official word was that the fair was still a go.
However, fair officials also told Local News they were waiting on further word from state officials. WJRS Local News will keep you up to date with any further announcements from fair officials when those are made.
