Governor Andy Beshear unveiled his first budget proposal as Governor last night. In his remarks, Beshear said he wanted to focus on education, health care, child welfare, and funding pensions. Beshear’s budget proposal was based on $1.5 billion in new revenue. Among other things, Beshear proposes adding 250 new social workers, giving all state employees a one percent raise, and a one percent increase in funding to public universities.
