Board of Education Meets this Evening

The Russell County school board is expected to hear tonight a report on the progress of construction at the new Lake Cumberland Regional College and Workforce Center.

The new building, which is currently under construction adjacent to the high school, is scheduled to open the fall of 2021.   Funding for construction of the new facility was provided two years ago thru a grant process with the state Education and Workforce Development Cabinet from funds authorized by the Kentucky legislature, and local funding committed  from the business and manufacturing community here in Russell County.

Among other items on their agenda tonight, the school board will review a wellness plan, consider a nutrition and physical activity report, consider the school calendar for next school year, and take the first step in adopting a new school district facilities plan.   The facilities plan is actually a blueprint for future construction of facilities to meet the needs of the school district.

The school board meeting will take place tonight at 6 o’clock at the Auditorium Natatorium Complex at Russell County High school and is open to the public
