Unemployment rates fell in 55 Kentucky counties between June 2018 and June 2019, rose in 51 and stayed the same in 14 counties, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.
Locally, Russell County had a 6.2 percent unemployment rate, up from 5.9 percent in June 2018. Adair County’s rate was 6 percent, Casey County was 4.6 percent, Cumberland County was 4.4 percent, Clinton County was 6.1 percent, Wayne County was 6.4 percent, Taylor County was 5.1 percent and Pulaski County was at 5.5 percent.
Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth at 3.4 percent while Magoffin County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 12.4 percent.
