A Columbia man was arrested on numerous charges this past Friday night, according to the Russell Springs Police Department.

David Brandon Runyon, 31, was charged with possession of marijuana, operating a motor vehicle under the influence 1st offense, 4th degree assault (domestic violence), and drug paraphernalia buy/possess after being stopped on the Cumberland Parkway by Officer Lucas Justice. Earlier in the night Officers Justice and Nathan Antle made contact with Runyon’s alleged girlfriend at the Russell County Hospital, who claimed she had been assaulted by Runyon at the Midtown Estate Trailer Park, who then fled.

Runyon failed a field sobriety test, and then gave consent to search his vehicle, where the alleged marijuana was discovered, according to the police report. His blood test at the local hospital also showed the presence of alcohol, according to authorities.
