Laker Baseball falls in weekend games

The Laker Baseball team dropped a pair of weekend games on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the Lakers fell to George Rogers Clark in walk-off fashion in 9 innings as the Cardinals hit a two-out line drive to center field that scored a runner from 2nd.

Jack Shearer led the Lakers with 3 hits, and Trace Stringer and Walker Stephens each finished with 2.

Shearer, Stringer, Mayes Gosser, and Ayden McGowan each drove in a run.

McGowan got the start pitching, going 5 1/3 innings and giving up 5 hits and 3 runs (all unearned), striking out 3.

On Saturday, the Lakers fell at home to Logan County by a score of 10-5.

Owen Loy led the Lakers at the plate with a hit, driving in 3 runs.

Austin Bartrug got the start pitching, going 3 innings and giving up 5 runs on 4 hits and striking out 2.

The Lakers draw another tough matchup tonight, going on the road to Taylor County. The Cardinals sit atop the 5th Region and recently finished as state runner-up in the 2A tournament.
