Lady Laker Softball defeats Somerset, picks up 2 wins at Border Wars

The Lady Laker Softball team picked up three big wins over the weekend.

On Friday, the Lady Lakers hosted Somerset, winning by a score of 9-3.

Camdin Cooper and Brylie Jo Hardwick each finished with a team-high 3 hits while Addy Abrell and Rylen McGowan each finished with 2 hits. McGowan hit a home run in the win, her 6th of the season. Addie Davis drove in a team-high 2 runs.

Hardwick pitched 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits and striking out 5.

On Saturday, the Lady Lakers went to Clinton County to compete in the Border Wars event against 2 teams from Tennessee.

In the first game against Livingston Academy, the Lady Lakers came out on top by a score of 8-4.

McGowan, Hardwick, Davis, and Miley Rankins each finished with 2 hits, and McGowan and Rankins each drove in a pair of runs.

Addison Hart picked up the win pitching, finishing the day with a season-high 14 strikeouts.

In the second game, the Lady Lakers defeated Clay County (TN) by a score of 11-8.

McGowan and Davis each finished with a pair of hits and Davis drove in a team-high 2 runs.

Hart picked up the win pitching in that game as well, pitching 4 innings and giving up 8 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits and striking out 5.

The Lady Lakers will look to keep the momentum going as they go on the road for a matchup with Hart County this evening. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
