The Russell County Sheriff’s Office responded to more than 700 calls for service during the month of July.
Sheriff Derek Polston presented the department’s monthly activity report to the Russell County Fiscal Court Monday morning.
Polston said deputies responded to 706 calls for service, a total that does not include telephone calls or walk-ins at the sheriff’s office.
During the month, deputies made 51 arrests, conducted 174 traffic stops and investigated 23 traffic collisions. Deputies also assisted 32 motorists and responded to 11 domestic violence calls.
Other calls included 12 alarms, eight animal complaints, three reports of shots fired and 12 suspicious person complaints. Deputies also conducted 19 welfare checks.
The department transported 14 individuals for mental health services during July and completed 179 prisoner transports, totaling more than 45-hundred miles.
Deputies also served 83 summonses, 24 subpoenas, three eviction notices and one emergency protective order.
The sheriff’s office conducted 161 motor vehicle inspections during the month and issued 21 concealed carry permits.
