The National Weather Service in Louisville is advising area residents of potentially dangerous heat next week.
The weather service says daily high temperatures in the 90s with oppressive humidity can be expected beginning Monday through at least Friday.
The weather service is placing high confidence in afternoon heat index values reaching over 100 degrees.
Residents are advised to avoid outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day, wear light clothing, and stay in air-conditioned areas as much as possible. Residents are also advised to ensure they drink plenty and stay hydrated to help lower the risk of heat-related illness.
