Russell County’s unemployment rate was below 4 percent in the month of April, according to the latest data from KY Stats.
Russell County’s unemployment rate was 3.9 percent, the third-lowest in the Lake Cumberland area. Cumberland County reported the lowest unemployment in the area at 3.5 percent and Adair County was at 3.8 percent.
Russell County saw its April unemployment rate drop from 4.3 percent one year ago. Russell County was one of four counties in the Lake Cumberland area that saw its unemployment rate drop from 2025 to 2026.
Looking at other neighboring counties, Casey County was at 4.1 percent, Pulaski County at 4.4 percent and Clinton County at 5 percent. Wayne County had the highest unemployment rate in the area at 6.2 percent.
The lowest unemployment rate in the state was Woodford County at 3.1 percent and the lowest was Martin County at 7.8 percent.
