The Lake Cumberland Tourist Commission in Russell County recently received a national award.
The local tourism commission was recognized alongside Lake Cumberland Tourism in Pulaski County with the eTSY Award for Best Customer Engagement Excellence.
The Lake Cumberland organizations earned the award for the digital kiosk project that deployed 32 interactive visitor kiosks across the five-county Lake Cumberland region, including Russell, Pulaski, Wayne, McCreary and Clinton counties.
The kiosks were placed at high-traffic locations across the counties and connect in-person visitors with digital trip-planning resources. Locally, kiosks were placed at locations like the Russell County Courthouse, Russell County Airport, the tourism office, and Lake Cumberland State Resort Park.
The kiosks provided proven results. Tourism Director Danielle Wilson said the local tourist commission website has seen a 700 percent increase in website traffic over the last two years.
The annual eTSY Awards were hosted in Louisville this year, and recognize excellence in digital tourism marketing.
