We’re continuing to learn more details about a tragedy in Adair County yesterday in which four people are reported dead.
Yesterday morning a little after 11:00, law enforcement officers in Adair County along with Kentucky State Police units were called to a home on Chestnut Grove Road near the Breeding community to investigate a reported shooting.
According to Kentucky State Police, a caller reported that his brother, 37-year-old Michael Adam Curry had been shot at his residence.
When authorities arrived on scene, State Police say Sneed barricaded himself in the residence and fired shots at an Adair County Deputy, resulting in a stand-off that lasted over 7 hours. During that stand-off, state police say Sneed fired at officers multiple times.
Police say the incident came to an end when Sneed exited the residence at around 7:00 armed with a firearm. Troopers fired at Sneed, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adair County Coroner’s Office.
The coroner’s office also pronounced Curry dead inside the residence.
It was discovered during the standoff that Sneed had allegedly killed two other family members earlier in the day at different locations. Officers found his mother, 67-year-old Joyce Sneed, deceased inside her home on Lake View Road. They also discovered his aunt, 63-year-old Debra Clark, deceased inside her home on Henson Road.
The investigation is ongoing by Detective Josh Dicken with Kentucky State Police Post 15. The state police critical incident response team is conducting the ongoing investigation into the trooper-involved shooting.
