Russell County, Lake Cumberland area see notable decrease in unemployment

Russell County and the Lake Cumberland area saw a significant decrease in unemployment during the month of January.

The Kentucky Center for Statistics reported Russell County’s unemployment rate at 4.3 percent for the month of January. That is down from 5.6 percent in January 2025.

Russell County and Adair County were tied for the lowest unemployment rate in the Lake Cumberland Area for the month of January.

Casey County and Green County came in at 4.4 percent. Taylor County came in at 4.6 percent and Pulaski County at 4.7 percent.

Cumberland County’s unemployment was 4.9 percent and Clinton County 5.1 percent. Wayne County came in at 5.9 percent.

Each county in the area saw a decrease in unemployment from January 2025, with Clinton County seeing the largest decrease at 2.1 percent.
