Wells, Planning and Zoning Commission make statements regarding rumors of property purchase

The Russell Springs City Council met last night, and heard from SPARC founder Scott Wells and the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission Chair Lou Ann Gore Flanagan regarding rumors about a potential SPARC property purchase.

In a letter presented to the council, Flanagan said concerns have been relayed to commission members about SPARC purchasing the property of the late Marilyn Roy near Butler Lane and Robertson Street.

Flanagan said in the letter that the commission has not fielded any requests to seek a change to the zoning map regarding the property. Flanagan noted the property is zoned as residential and cannot be used for commercial purposes.

Wells was in attendance at the meeting and spoke to the council to clear the air about the rumors.

Aside from the reading of the letter and the statements by Wells, there was no further discussion on the topic.
