A man was apprehended yesterday evening following a near 24-hour manhunt around the Clinton/Wayne County line.
The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office said things began at around 11 p.m. Sunday. when deputies with the sheriff’s office and Kentucky State Police responded to a domestic call where shots were fired.
The sheriff’s office said a man, later identified as Bobby Fulton, was outside the residence and allegedly fired a couple shots as officers arrived on scene.
Clinton County Sheriff Ricky Marcum said in a statement that a foot pursuit began when officers arrived, and during that pursuit, Fulton allegedly fired multiple shots at officers.
Law enforcement later reportedly had a standoff with Fulton at his family’s residence in which Fulton produced a weapon and allegedly made threats to harm law enforcement and/or himself.
Fulton reportedly fled the residence into a wooded area, at which point multiple law enforcement agencies joined the manhunt.
The manhunt caused a delay in bus routes for Clinton County Schools and some businesses in the area were placed on lockdown.
After several hours, law enforcement officers were able to use a drone to locate Fulton in the area.
The sheriff’s office said he was apprehended without further incident.
Fulton is charged with multiple counts of wanton endangerment for discharging a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, fleeing or evading police on foot, and assault fourth degree – domestic violence. He is also charged with resisting arrest, terroristic threatening – second degree. The sheriff’s office said more charges could possibly be filed.
