Cold and flu season has hit hard in the area, and with flu cases on the rise, local retired doctor Rick Miles is urging people who haven’t received a flu vaccine to get one.
Although many people receive their flu vaccines in the fall, Miles said it isn’t too late to get a flu shot, which can help protect people against severe cases.
Miles, a longtime physician in the area, said there has been an uptick in flu hospitalizations within the area. He specifically urged people age 65 and older, as well as those who have diabetes, to receive their flu vaccine.
Miles also emphasized the importance of hand-washing and staying home when sick during this time of year to limit the spread of viruses.
