Local gas prices hovering around $3/gallon for Labor Day weekend

Local gas prices continue to hover around $3/gallon for Labor Day weekend.

According to AAA, the average price of gasoline in Russell County comes in at $2.99, just a couple cents below the state average of $3.01.

Prices are mostly the same in surrounding counties, but Clinton County is slightly cheaper coming in at an average of $2.93.

Local gas prices are mostly on par with this same time last year.

Prices are expected to begin to trend back down soon now that a major refinery in Indiana is back online after being damaged by flooding.
