The Russell County Fiscal Court met this morning and voted unanimously to take over operations at the transfer station.
The transfer station has been operated by Morgan’s Sanitation for many years. However, Russell County Judge Executive Randy Marcum said Morgan’s was ready to turn over operations to the county.
Marcum said people will notice some changes at the transfer station in the coming days and weeks, but those changes he hopes will ultimately increase efficiency.
Among the changes mentioned was adding the ability to accept credit or debit card at the transfer station. Currently, it is cash only.
Morgan’s Sanitation is not changing its routes.
