The Russell County Laker Basketball team won its first game in the Smoky Mountain Winter Classic in Gatlinburg last night, defeating Geraldine High School from Alabama by a score of 62-57.
Maddox Shearer led the Lakers with 21 points, including 4 made three-pointers. Mayes Gosser scored 16 for Russell County, followed by Owen Loy with 14.
The Lakers take on Gatlinburg-Pittman tonight at 6 p.m. Central.
Meanwhile, the Lady Lakers are back in action tonight, taking on Pleasure Ridge Park in the Giovanni’s Berea Holiday Classic. That game is set to get underway at 5:15 central.
