A Taylor County man was arrested after reportedly shooting at the Taylor County Sheriff.
Deputies were called out to a residence in an area off Highway 210 Saturday night and when Sheriff Dickie Benningfield arrived on scene, a man later identified as 31-year-old Cody Travis Laytart fired four shots at the cruiser Benningfield was standing next to.
Laytart was taken into custody by Benningfield and Deputy Josh Durbin. The sheriff’s office said while Laytart was in custody, he threatened to kill the officers, spat on them, and damaged the interior of the cruiser.
Kentucky State Police was called in to investigate.
Laytart is facing charges of attempted murder of a police officer, assault of a police officer, criminal mischief, and multiple other charges.
