Russell County received a Storm Ready designation from the National Weather Service at this morning’s fiscal court meeting.
The National Weather Service’s Storm Ready Program aims to help community leaders and emergency managers strengthen local safety programs and help communities develop plans to handle all types of extreme weather.
NWS Meteorologist Ron Steve was at the fiscal court meeting to present a special marker designating the county as Storm Ready to Judge Executive Randy Marcum and Emergency Management Director Michael Tojo Bray.
The sign will be displayed at the courthouse.
