Voter turnout in Russell County during the recent primary election was a little higher than some expected and surpassed the state average turnout.
According to County Clerk Patti Glover, just over 19% of registered voters in Russell County voted during the May 21st primary, while the state turnout average was 12%
A little over 400 people chose early voting, with 119 people voting by absentee ballot. Also, Glover told WJRS NEWS that just over 2400 people voted in the Commonwealth’s Attorney race, while almost 2700 voted in the Presidential primary.
