Lady Lakers, Lakers split doubleheader at Adair County

The Russell County Lady Lakers came away with a win at Adair County Friday night, while the Lakers lost a close one to the Indians.

The Lady Lakers dominated in the first half, racing out to a 27-6 halftime lead and came away with a 43-29 victory.

The Lady Lakers were led by Juliah Bault with 13 points and Star Marcum with 10. Rachel Bolin and Jaterria Coffey each had five points. Maleah Preston had four points and Sophie Shearer added three points. Emily Hart finished with two points and Hannah Yates had one point.

Shearer led the team in rebounding with seven rebounds.

That makes back-to-back victories for the Lady Lakers, who now sit at 5-8 on the season.

Russell County come up short against hot-shooting Adair County

The Lakers fell to the Indians by a score of 56-47.

The Indians, who have shot just 33 percent from three on the season, caught fire Friday night, knocking down 9/13 from beyond the arc.

That was too much to overcome for the Lakers, who hit 5/15 from beyond the arc.

Jay Milburn led the Lakers in scoring and rebounding with 14 points and 9 rebounds.

Clay Anderson and Owen Loy had eight points each, Scott Hamm had six points, and Trace Stringer had five points. Collin Burton, Mayes Gosser, and Devonte Grayson each finished with two points.

The Lakers are now 5-8 on the season.
