A Russell Springs firefighter remains hospitalized after being seriously injured while helping battle a fire at his family’s property Saturday afternoon in the Sano community near the Russell-Adair County line.
Officials tell WJRS News that Tim Foley suffered facial and internal injuries from smoke and extreme heat after a tractor caught fire and quickly spread inside a relative’s barn.
Despite his injuries, Foley was able to rescue several animals from the burning structure before help arrived.
Firefighters from both the Russell Springs and Adair County Fire Departments responded to the scene and worked to contain the blaze.
Foley was transported by ambulance to Russell County Hospital, where he received initial treatment before being flown by P H I Air Medical to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. He remains in the hospital’s burn unit undergoing treatment.
Foley has served with the Russell Springs Fire Department for more than 20 years and currently holds the rank of lieutenant.
